Ulmarra is a National Trust-classified village on the Far North Coast. Located 622 km north of Sydney on the Pacific Hwy and Clarence River, its indigenous name aptly means ‘bend in the river’. This charming historic port was established in 1850s with maize & sugar cane farms eventually replaced by a successful dairying industry. Ulmarra is home to many beautifully renovated heritage buildings several of which accommodate antique shops, galleries and quaint tearooms. A pioneer cemetery is also of great interest and the vehicular cable ferry travels across to Southgate. Ulmarra Campdraft (June), Festival of the River (Sept).
