Turtles tend to be migratory seeking feeding locations and breeding sites and like many other marine creatures are threatened by pollution, loss of habitats, over-harvesting and feral & native animals. Turtles are protected by individual state laws and some are listed as endangered (Loggerhead, Olive Ridley) whilst the others have a vulnerable status. A group of turtles is called a ‘bale’. Tortoises are related but live on land and feed on vegetation.
