Thebarton is an inner Adelaide suburb 4 km west of the CBD. It is bounded by the River Torrens to its north and many of its buildings and landmarks are in fact located in neighbouring Torrensville with which it also shares the country's largest Greek Australian population per capita. Thebarton was first subdivided in 1839 and named after a place in England. It is home to Adelaide Gaol and the city's largest Greek Orthodox Church, St George's.
