Tarago NSW 2580Tarago is a small South West settlement between Lakes George and Bathurst 237 km s-w of Sydney. Originally known as Sherwin’s Flats, it was renamed Tarago, an Aboriginal word meaning ‘country’. Amongst Tarago’s interesting historic buildings are the railway station (1884), Anglican and Catholic churches and the Loaded Dog Hotel (1848).
