Tanunda is Barossa Valley rural township 70 km n-e of Adelaide. Early German immigrants arrived in 1840s and settled in Langmeil which later changed its name to Tanunda, an Aboriginal word. The German influence was very strong and remains so today with Lutheran churches, German restaurants, bakeries, butchers etc. Barossa Vintage Festival (odd numbered years Apr), Barossa Jazz Weekend (Aug), Barossa International Music Festival (Oct), Brass Band Contest (Oct).

Tanunda has a couple of motels and hotels, 3 resorts, half a dozen B&Bs, many holiday cottages/apartments and a caravan park.
