(Pop 3 000)
Stirling is a delightful and elegent Adelaide Hills village/satellite commuter centre 16 km s-e of Adelaide. Founded in 1854, Stirling grew quickly due to its surrounding fruit orchards and market gardens supplying Adelaide. There is a decidedly European feel to the township due to the many deciduous trees that flourished in the wet, cool climate. Mount Lofty Spring Bulb Festival (Apr), Hills Affare (Sept).
