Australia is traditionally a nation of sports, sporting events/festivals and sportsmen & women. With almost 60 000 km of coastline including over 8 000 islands and 7 000 beaches, it is little wonder that water sports feature so prominently in Australians’ lives. Surfing, swimming, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving are some examples whilst wildly popular spectator sports such as cricket, football, horse racing, car racing and tennis draw thousands of crowds to matches, games and events throughout the country. Most notable amongst them is the Melbourne Cup horse race held each Nov.
