Rainbow Lorikeet

Rainbow Lorikeets have colourful plumes of vibrant blues, greens, reds and yellows. These loud and fast-moving parrots travel in flocks and measure an average 30 cm. Rainbow Lorikeets inhabit the northern, eastern and south-eastern Australian coastal fringes but there is also a large colony in Perth, WA resulting from aviary releases. They prefer forests and woodlands but are found in urban areas where there are many trees. Their diet consists of fruit, flowers, seeds and insects and their call is a continuous screeching sound.
