Portarlington is an historic Bellarine Peninsula resort town 104 km s-w of Melbourne. One side of town faces Port Phillip Bay while the other focuses on hills of vineyards and olive groves behind. Originally occupied by the Wathawurung Aborigines, European settlement began in 1850s. Today tourism, fishing, aquaculture and agriculture support the local economy. Portarlington markets 1st Sun each month (Sept-Apr). Easter Art Show.
