Point Lonsdale is a picturesque and peaceful Bellarine Peninsula holiday resort 104 km s-w of Melbourne. It is located at the entrance to Port Phillip with Point Nepean 3 km further east. The stretch of water in between, The Rip, is known as some of Australia’s most dangerous due to the turbulent Bass Strait currents. Originally occupied by the Wathawurung Aborigines, European settlement began in 1830s and grew steadily. Point Lonsdale markets 2nd Sun each month.
