Penrith is a Nepean River city and outer Sydney metropolitan suburb 57 km west of the CBD. It sits in Penrith Valley on the edge of the Blue Mts and Cumberland Plain and was established as a farm in 1819. A brutal penal station followed and eventually the settlement was moved further along the Nepean to its present site.  Today Penrith is a busy and thriving centre and home to the amazing Museum of Fire and a huge entertainment complex (Penrith Panthers). Its scenic Nepean-Hawkesbury rivers and Penrith Lakes location offers countless aquatic events with many community festivals and markets. Many of its residents make the daily commute into Sydney and often weekends are spent in the glorious nearby Blue Mountains and its vast national park. Penrith also has a number of University/TAFE campuses.
