It is situated on the Warrego Hwy just 30 km west of bustling Toowoomba and was named after the creekside oak trees. Pastoralists & graziers arrived in 1840s followed by the railway. Oakey is surrounded by picturesque hills and fertile plains and is also home to the Australian Army Aviation Centre & Museum of Australian Army Flying.
