Northbridge is Perth's nightlife area located 1.5 km north of the CBD. Established in 1981 and named for being 'north of the bridge', it is an interesting mix of commercial, residential and public buildings as well as being home to Chinatown, many specialized restaurants, nightclubs and the nearby 'red light area'. The Art Gallery of WA, Western Australian Museum (incl Old Gaol) and Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (free admission) are also located here. Galleria Art & Craft Markets held each Sat & Sun.
