Mullumbimby is a peaceful
Far North NSW country township 783 km north
of Sydney.
Having evolved from a rural centre to an alternative
hippie village, it has now confidently settled into
its present persona as a quiet and relaxed tourist
town. Mullumbimby is picturesquely situated on the
Brunswick River at the foot of Mt Chincogan (309 m).
Early timbergetters in 1850s followed occupation by
the Bundjalung Aborigines and the
railway (1894) greatly contributed to local
agricultural prosperity. Today tropical fruits, dairy
produce, timber, macadamia nuts,
cattle & tourism are major industries. The
stunning Wanganui Gorge & Rainforest Track (20 km
west) attract many visitors. Mullumbimby markets 3rd
Sat each month. Chincogan Fiesta (Sept).
