Mount Zeil - NT
Mount Zeil is located within the MacDonnell Ranges 131 km west of Alice Springs. As the NT’s highest peak (1 531 m), it also has the honour of being Australia’s highest point west of the Great Dividing Range. The Western Arrernte Aborigines named the mountain Urlatherrke, referring to a type of caterpillar while its European name is thought to honour early explorer, Count Zeil (1870s).
