Moe is a major Gippsland industrial centre 135 km s-w of Melbourne. First settled by pastoralists in 1850s, coal mining became the town's major industry after WWI. This was due to desperately needed power which resulted in the construction of a number of power plants over the years. Moe markets 2nd Sun each month. Fairies in the Park (Feb) Jazz Festival (Mar), Blue Rock Classic (Mar) & Moe Cup (Oct) both horseraces.
