Leura NSW 2780
(Pop 3 750)
Leura is a chic and sophisticated Blue Mts village 109 km west of Sydney. The first Europeans in the area were explorers, Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson (1813) but settlement was slow and sparse until the railway arrived (1891). The 1920s saw an influx of Sydney holidaymakers escaping the city's heat and humidity. By 1970s Leura had become THE place for Sydney's artistic community as a weekend retreat destination.
