Kookaburra
Kookaburras are large territorial kingfishers native to Australia and New Guinea. These friendly birds are well known for their ‘laughing’ call which varies somewhat between the 4 species (Laughing, Blue-winged, Spangled and Rufous-bellied). Kookaburras are carnivores feeding on reptiles, rodents, insects and raw meat. They have short compact bodies, long beaks and black, brown or white feathers with touches of blue. Kookaburras can live for up to 20 years.
