Kings Canyon
NT
Kings Canyon is a magnificent natural
attraction 250 km southwest of Alice
Springs. It lies about 100 km west of
the Stuart Highway on a corrugated dirt road in the
Watarrka NP. It is well worth the trip once you see
the canyon walls rising above the valley of Kings
Creek (named by Ernest Giles in 1872). The canyon
abounds in water holes of great beauty and a
bewildering array of fauna & flora, while the
plateau above displays rock formations reminiscent of
an ancient city.
