Keith is a modern Limestone Coast
rural service town 226 km s-e of Adelaide. As
with many other towns within the 'Ninety Mile
Desert', the addition of soil trace elements and
Murray River water transformed Keith's infertile
lands into rich agricultural areas. The Ngarranjeri
Aborigines
first occupied this region with permanent European
settlement only beginning in 1880s.
