Iluka is a picturesque North Coast fishing and holiday settlement 684 km north of Sydney. Sitting on the Clarence River, it is quieter and more laid-back than its popular cousin, Yamba. Iluka, said to be an indigenous word meaning ‘near the sea’, saw early settlers in the form of timbergetters arriving in 1820s and more permanent settlement occurred during 1860s.
