Huonville is a thriving
SE Tasmanian fruit growing town on the Huon River
38 km s-w of Hobart. The
area was established from 1840s with apple and hop
growing and today Tasmania’s
‘fruit basket’ produces more than half the state’s
apples. Other fruit, hops and the timber industry
also contribute to the local economy significantly.
