Hamilton in NSW is affectionately referred to as the
Cosmopolitan Heart of the
Newcastle area. It is within walking distance of
all major sporting venues, the Entertainment Centre
and racecourses if horses are your passion! Hamilton
became a municipality in 1871 and was named to honour
Edward Terrick Hamilton of the influential and
wealthy Australian Agricultural
Company. Hamilton was originally known as
Pittown, Borehole & Happy Flat and the original

is currently being restored to its former glory.
Hamilton offers something for everyone including
popular Gregson Park, the Bowling Club and tennis
courts for hire. Beaumont St is Hamilton’s main road
full or great restaurants & cafes, interesting
book and antique stores, banks, supermarkets and
other essential outlets. The bus depot (Denison St)
and train station (Beaumont St) ensure easy access to
Hamilton with buses and trains running every 10 to 30
