Australia’s fresh and salt water marine life is diverse, colourful, interesting, unique and in some instances, dangerous. There are over 2 000 species of ocean fish with well known varieties including Jewfish, John Dory, Leatherjacket, Perch, Snapper, Tailor, Trevally. Fresh water fish species number about 180 with the most famous being Barramundi. Additionally there are more than 160 species of shark with several on the endangered list and 50 types of rays. Crustaceans include delicious Bugs, Lobster, Yabbies, Crabs, Prawns while ever popular mollusc varieties are Oysters, Mussels, Squid, Octopus, Abalone.
