Faulconbridge is an historic Blue Mts township 77 km west of Sydney. Settled in 1870s, the area was home to Sir Henry Parkes ‘Father of Federation’ and distinguished artist, Norman Lindsay. His house (between Springwood and Faulconbridge) has been converted into a museum and gallery operated by the National Trust. Open daily from 10am–4pm. There are also a number of Aboriginal carvings in nearby rock shelves. Several of the town’s streets have been named after characters in Lindsay’s famous children’s book ‘The Magic Pudding’. Another distinctive feature of Faulconbridge is its Corridor of Oaks in Jackson Park. Instigated in 1930s, the trees have each been planted by an Australian Prime Minister. Sir Henry Parkes is buried in Faulconbridge Cemetery.
