Edithburgh is a pretty Yorke Peninsula holiday destination 226 km west of Adelaide. European settlement began in 1860s and was named after the SA Governor's wife. Edithburgh became a major salt producer and at its peak (1920s) 24 000 tonnes was exported annually. Today mainly tourism supports the local economy. Gala Day (Oct).
