East Perth is an inner Perth suburb 1.5 km east of the CBD. This early industrial area which formerly housed a gas works, power station and railway sheds, is today made up of modern residential units and commercial buildings. East Perth serves as the main country and interstate rail hub with the old station now called Claisebrook. East Perth is also home to the famous WA Cricket Assoc. (WACA) and WACA Museum, Perth Mint, Queens Gardens and an important historic cemetery with a number of graves dating back to the colonial era.
