Drake NSW 2469
(Pop 150)
Drake is a delightful North West rural settlement on the Bruxner Hwy 737 km north of Sydney. Following gold discoveries in 1870s, thousands flocked to the area but once the mining declined, the population dwindled. Main industries are timber, agriculture and tourism. Mining has now been reduced to fossicking which is a popular pursuit amongst visitors. This picturesque district offers excellent camping, fishing, bushwalking and horse & bike trails. Drake is surrounded by several state forests and its historic cemetery is also of interest.
