Dorrigo is known as 'Australia's National Park
Capital' having 14 national parks in the area with
four heritage listed. It sits on a
Great Dividing Range escarpment (762 m) on the
Waterfall Way with Coffs Harbour 65 km
east and Sydney 550 km
south. Dorrigo is thought to be named after the
Aboriginal
word 'Dundurrigo' which means stringybark (a type of
eucalypt) and European settlement began around
