Crookwell is a pretty Southern Tablelands historic township 240 km s-w of Sydney. Originally inhabited by the Gundungura Aborigines, white settlement followed in 1820s. Sitting on the Crookwell River, this important service centre is surrounded by rich agricultural & pastoral lands producing potatoes, beef, wool, oats, hay & dairy produce. Australia’s first grid-connected wind farm was established here in 1998. Crookwell markets 1st Sat each month. Crookwell Show (Feb), Country Weekend (Mar), Windfarm Open Day (Mar).
