Casino, on the Summerland Way (the alternative inland
route between Brisbane
& Coffs
Harbour) is 726 km north of Sydney. Original
inhabitants were the Bundjalung Aborigines and
an early vast cattle station named 'Cassino' (after
the beautiful Italian town of Monte Cassino) resulted
in the town's name. Today Casino is the rail and
freight hub for the Far North Coast and noted for its
beef & agriculture industries.
