Moonlite
Andrew Scott (Captain Moonlite) was born in Ireland in 1845. Well educated and a qualified engineer, he moved to Australia in 1868 and worked as a preacher. The following year he carried out a daring bank robbery near Ballarat, Victoria and lived the high life until the money ran out. Arrested and imprisoned for almost 10 years, upon his release he formed a bushranger gang and called himself Captain Moonlite. Following further robberies and shoot outs, he was again captured and hung at Darlinghurst gaol in 1880. He is now buried at Gundagai cemetery.
