Bottlenose Dolphins are found in all Australian states, NT & Norfolk Island. Favoured habitats include coastal, ocean and estuarine with frequent sightings at Shark Bay (WA), Jervis Bay (NSW), Adelaide (SA), Port Phillip Bay (Vic), Moreton Bay (Qld). Although still abundant in numbers, factors such as pollution, disease, increased tourism and trawl/drift nets pose serious threats. Dolphins live about 40 years and measure 2.5 m as an average. Often feeding in groups, their diet consists of mackerel, squid, mullet, whiting - consuming about 10 kg daily.
