Bondi is probably Sydney's most famous
beach. Located 9 km east of the
CBD, its long swimming & surfing beach is
backed by a pleasant reserve popular with walkers,
cyclists & skaters. Near the northern headland
there are a number of wonderful Aboriginal rock
engravings whilst the southern headland has a scenic
coastal walk that leads through Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly and
ends in
Coogee. Campbell Parade is Bondi's main road
which is full of shops and eateries. Old Jewish and
Italian communities co-exist with young families and
endless travelers. There is a large range of
accommodation available including backpackers,
B&B's and hotels. Reaching Bondi is easy by buses
380, 333, 382 and 389) or by train (Bondi Junction)
and then a 3 km walk to the beach. The fun and lively
Bondi Beach Markets are held each Sunday at Bondi
Beach Public School. (10am-5pm).
