  Blaxland
Blaxland NSW 2774
(Pop 10 500)
Blaxland is a thriving and bustling Blue Mountains community 64 km west of Sydney. It was named after famous explorer, Gregory Blaxland, who together with Lawson and Wentworth first crossed the Blue Mountains in 1813. Convict-built Lennox Bridge (1833) is the Australian mainland’s oldest bridge and sadly, Blaxland’s most important building, Pilgrim Inn (1826) now stands in ruins. Many of Blaxland’s residents make the daily commute to Sydney by rail.
