Australian Birds
Australian bird species number about 750. There is a huge diversity in size, colour, shape, plumage, characteristics and habitat. Many are quite similar to their US and European counterparts (Swallow, Eagle, Owl) whilst others are distinctly different (Cassowary, Rainbow Lorikeet, Lyrebird). Sizes range from the tiny Weebill at 8cm to the 2m flightless Emu. What can be more typically Australian than a Laughing Kookaburra!
