The economy of this former whaling port is today sustained by a prosperous fishing and cray fishing industry and growing tourism. As the offshore waters are so shallow, Beachport has one of Australia's longest jetties, measuring 772 m built in 1878. Festival of the Sea (Feb/Mar).
