Bathurst Island NT
Bathurst Island is the smaller of the two Tiwi Islands. It
lies about 80 km north of Darwin across Beagle
Gulf and covers an area of 2 600 sq km. Bathurst
Island is home to the Tiwi Aborigines with
ownership handed back in 1978. Visitor permits are
required by the Tiwi Island Land Council Tel (08) 8981 4891 and the best way
