John Flynn's Grave (5 km w) (1880-1951).
Simpsons Gap NP (8 km west): 31 000 ha park within the MacDonnell Ranges and home to tame rock wallabies, ghost gums and numerous waterholes.
Chambers Pillar Historical Reserve (165 km south): features a 40 m red and yellow sandstone outcrop which had been an early explorers' vital landmark. Access by 4 WD.
Henbury Meteorite Conservation Park (145 km south): protects a dozen large iron meteorite craters thought to be about 4 700 years old.
Ewaninga Rock Carvings Reserve (35 km s-e): contains ancient and outstanding Aboriginal rock carvings.
Standley Chasm (50 km west): steep and spectacular gorge in the MacDonnell Ranges which was named after the area's first schoolteacher (Ida Standley). Takes 20 mins to walk into.
Emily Gap (13 km east) & Jessie Gap (18 km east): in the East MacDonnells and both contain Aboriginal art and sacred sites.
Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve (3 km north): site of original stone buildings (repeater station) and Alice Springs waterhole. Interesting historic displays, bushwalks & wildlife.
Corroboree Rock Conservation Reserve (43 km east): important site for the local Eastern Arrernte Aborigines.
